What to watch and review this weekend
What to watch on June 18 and 19.
SATURDAY
Big Brother (Channel 5, 10pm) After the Friday eviction this year’s horrible housemates continue to plumb new depths. Is this tawdry series working for you? Or is there a sense of desperation in the air as the ratings hit rock bottom?
Love Island (ITV2, 9pm) Shock horror. After her adolescent sex session with new boy Alex Bowen, fallen beauty queen Zara has been stripped of her Miss Great Britain title. What will she talk about now?
SUNDAY
Top Gear (BBC2, 8pm) Episode four of TV’s most controversial show. The consensus seems to be that the less there is of shouty Chris Evans, the better the programme. Matt LeBlanc’s OK and newbies Rory Reid and Chris Harris are proper motoring experts. But will the new team ever escape unfavourable comparisons to old boys Clarkson, Hammond and May? Tonight Chris, Matt and token female Sabin Schmitz drive to Venice in cheap second hand cars. No one knows why.
Coronation Street (7.30pm) An alternative to the football for non sports fans as vicar Billy’s junky brother Lee takes Sarah hostage and demands a £1000 ransom. Foolproof plan. What can possibly go wrong?
