The State

By Andy Simon @AndySimon55

Once again; Channel 4 are right up there, when it comes to gripping, thought provoking, watchable telly, and their latest big one, The State, is no exception.

There has been a lot of talk and speculation as to how this drama was going to be received. Some were under the impression after watching episode one, that this hard hitting and at times, graphic four part drama would somehow... glamourise ISIS?

Well; you couldn't be more wrong.

Ah, Eastenders, how I’ve missed you…with your wheelie bins full of rubbish, bickering market traders, weekly wife swaps and interchangeable offspring. I mean, you’re always there, aren’t you. No matter how much my commitment wanes, you’re always there. Waiting…just waiting…beckoning.

Len Goodman's Partners In Rhyme

By Baser @gregorybaser

At long last the BBC returns to proper Saturday Entertainment for all generations, fronted by a talented, well liked elderly statesman with the common touch. Enough about the tribute to Sir Bruce Forsyth, let's talk about Len Goodman's Partners in Rhyme.

So the premise of this programme is celebrities pair up with members of the public and identify a rhyme from a photograph.

Ideal, Len the host is a pleasant cheeky chappy, a Cockerney...what could go wrong?

Mo Farah of Great Britain displays his anguish as he finishes runner-up to Muktar Edris of Ethiopia in the 5,000m final in London

By Andy Simon @AndySimon55

Summertime telly can be rather boring. Well for me at least, it can.

And again for me at least, it's the perfect excuse to go outdoors more, do some gardening, chat more with the neighbours, go for walks, have day trips out, and do even more of the one pastime I relish most during the summer months, fishing.
