There’s an awful lot of quitting going on at The X Factor. Simon Cowell must be mortified. Because there’s no way he was at all going to fire dreary judge dread Nick Grimshaw and hopeless hosts Caroline Flack and Olly Murs, the one series-only trio that time forgot. Naturally, it was an incredibly tough decision for the three of them. But after much soul-searching they’re ready to move on… explore exciting new opportunities… blah, blah, blah. More cynical people than me might conclude that they jumped before they were pushed. But I can’t believe that would be the case. Showbiz just isn’t like that. Now will Dermot O’Leary and Louis Walsh emerge as the Dark Lord’s comeback kids? Or is 1D’s Louis Tomlinson set to be the new Gary Barlow? Watch this space…
