Week two of Channel 5's important “social experiment” The Great British Benefits Handout and it was all going on...

As Tony struggled with the concept of paying his own bills, Scott's animal crackers spending spree continued apace.

Downsizing his ever-decreasing commercial plans to flogging stuff at car boot sales, Tony invested £1450 in a white van. “But there's one outstanding problem,” the narrator pointed out. “Tony has never learned to drive.” D'oh!

Meanwhile, Scouser Scott was back at the pet shop. Snapping up a Sumatran monitor lizard and two sugar gliders for just £320. Then he was off to buy a £2990 motor that broke down on the way home.

With only eight grand of their £26,000 windfall left, long suffering Leanne despaired of her husband's mobile zoo children's party business. “I'm not convinced,” she sighed. Nor am I.

In other worrying news... no longer welfare reliant Rachel was still trying to land a job. And failing. But at least she could afford six months worth of ciggies.

I'm still rooting for these guys. But I fear the worst...
