The Secret (ITV, 9pm) New drama series about a love-pact double murder by two cheating Baptists who kill their spouses. Based on a true story, this chilling and compelling drama stars James Nesbitt as a Northern Irish dentist whose passionate affair with a policeman’s wife leads to horror. If you’re going out, record it.
Witless (BBC1, 11.25pm) Take two girls and put them into the witness protection scheme. After watching a gangland shooting, a couple of female flatmates are given new identities and made to live in Swindon. A patchy comedy that has its moments.
Coronation Street (ITV, 7.30 and 8.30pm) Jason’s strange reaction to his father’s death continues as he struts around picking fights. His latest victim is Aidan. Meanwhile, Nick secretly arranges a brain scan. To see if he’s got one.
