Donald Trump

“There are billions of people out there and a billion people believe in God, you can’t touch that”.

Days before his inauguration day, Donald Trump delivered his first formal news conference since being elected. As if a chain-smoking seagull had nested on his head, the president elect strode majestically to the stage.

Like all other politicians, he ‘doesn’t do’ answering questions at press conferences, that’s not the point is it, that’s not what he does. After claiming that he will cure war veterans of terminal cancer, and that it’ll only be bands of the military kind that will play at his ‘beautiful’ inauguration, this train wreck of a ‘press conference’ rapidly escalated into an almighty punch-up between the orange guy and the press. He didn’t like the chap from CNN much, Mr Trump: ‘Your organisation is terrible.’ The CNN bloke: ‘Can you give us a chance to ask a question, sir?’ Mr Trump: ‘Quiet.’ CNN chap: ‘But…’ Mr Trump: ‘Don’t be rude.’ Then, while the CNN chap continued to plead and continued to call him ‘sir’, the next president of the USA drawled: ‘No, I’m not gonna give you a question. You are fake news.’ Next!

There are verbal bullets flying everywhere, mostly directed at Buzzfeed, ‘Chyna’ and the Russians. Now the church-going Donald, freely admits that he wouldn't want to sleep in a p*** stained bed, he's a germaphobe don't you know, and there's me thinking he didn't like the Germans. There's laughter, but no one seems to notice that he's not giving up his business interests. Good job.

Abruptly, he handed over his press conference to his solicitor, a meek looking woman, who seems under some duress. Nice move Donald, let her take the flack.

Although Trump on the surface could be called ‘funny’, the real problem is that neither he, nor his team have a real sense of irony. That’s what I find most troubling, but then America doesn’t do irony. Believe me.

It seems we're at the stage where Trump could punch a baby in the face on live telly and his supporters would be angry with babies everywhere. At the end of the day it’s not about what Trump says, it’s what people think he says, what they think he stands for, what he symbolises. So Trump can do and say whatever he likes, it ultimately make no difference. It doesn’t matter. It's gonna be great anyway.

All the ‘fake news’ the Russian hacking, the leaks, the ‘pussy touching’ it’s all like water of a seagull’s back to Trump, because he understands, that if a billion people can believe in God, then they can believe the lie that is Donald Trump. I could try and compare the relative importance of being Putin’s poodle versus sex with an intern, and all of that 'stuff', but what’s the point? After all, Trump can make the case better than any of us. Which he does, daily. Trump would like to be a God, worshiped, adored, but he’s a Demagog that you would pray to among a den of thieves at a temple made of fools gold.

The quote at the beginning of this review is by Uri Geller. When you analyse that quote, it’s as close as you’re going to get to Uri admitting he’s a fake, a con man and a cheat, because if over a billion people believe in God, which will never be proven or dis-proven, people will always think that they believe in what they chose to believe, but they don’t, they believe in what they need to believe.

Uri Geller now sells crystal jewelry on Shopping Channel QVC, one day Donald J Trump will too, mark my words, it’s because it’s what he does, he’s a showman, a fake and a fraud, so all the leaks, the fake news, the controversy, the hacks mean nothing, because the whole show is smoke and mirrors, and even if you debunk him, call him out, accuse him of whatever you like, it makes no difference, because it’s just a show. That's what people want, a show, that's what they voted for. Like God, you either believe in Donald Trump, or you don’t, there’s just black and white, and no shades of grey.

There were actually only two American flags behind Trump at that press conference, the other seven were an illusion, or you imagined them.
