The ever talented Ford Kiernan and Greg Kemphill came into my life as the delightful pensioners Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade many years ago in the sketch show Chewing the Fat which was aired on BBC Scotland.  The two characters grew wings and a new comedy was born, Still Game.  It was a few years after they had first hit the screens in the UK that I heard about Jack and Victor and I immediately bought the box set and watched all 6 series in less than a week, a series a night to be exact.

Jack and Victor are both widowed and both have families who live away, they depend hugely on each other in their day to life. They have a good pal called Winston and of course the regular busy body Isa who works in the local shop which is owned by Naveed. The characters in Still Game are played to perfection and you never doubt that they aren't actually pensioners living their daily lives in Scotland.

Whilst there is a lot of hilarity and scenes that make you laugh until you cry, there are plenty of emotional issues that are raised in each series. These are mainly discussed at length in the local bar The Clansman. If you want a good laugh and some light hearted comedy, this is the best on the box right now. Comedy is thin on the ground these days so do yourself a favour and make sure you watch this one. It may help that I am married to a Glaswegian so I totally get the humour.
