No Offence

No Offence on Channel 4 makes me want to leave my three-and-a-half star life in New York’s West Village, move to Manchester and Viv's team at the Friday Street cop shop. Although they don't really know how good a time they're having from the inside, I sit here curled up in front of a crackling fire wishing it would never end. I'm so excited because I have two-episode evening. Though it's 4am and I'm supposed to be singing at 1pm tomorrow

But Cathy Scanlon just makes you want to be her best mate. She's tough and warm at the same time which is hard to pull off as a cop. Her comfort with her far from perfect body makes Lena Dunham look like a wilting violet. Her scene in episode one standing in her knickers whilst a young rookie male cop picks up her ruined clothes from an explosion is pure comedy gold. Every actor in it though pulls serious weight - they're all the faces you love to see pop up in a show anytime so to have them all in one place is just good karma. I'm not telling you plots as I never understand those reviews that tell you story from beginning to fact-filled end.  I just wanna know am I missing something if I don't watch this!

Yes yes yes you are missing a great show with excellent original writing and a brilliant ensemble cast! It's so good I want to go to bloody Manchester and join the police force. It's as life defining as the first episode of shameless where I thought l would literally explode from love of the genius that is Paul Abbott! I f****** love him!

Now the next thing that hit me between the eyes was Unforgotten with the brilliant Nicola Walker - another walking magician of emotions! Every show she's in - it's the same quivering lip and stammering dialogue with the unsure eyebrows but I'm devoted to her almost as much as Olivia Coleman as Angela in the Night Manager - all these amazing women - then there's Sarah Lancashire who's almost in a league of her own after Happy Valley and Last Tango - but back to Unforgotten. I don't care about the story in case that it is again a great way to waste an hour of your life - try it.

Brilliant twists and turns and oh my god moments all over the shop - So here I am signing out from my NYC home where we are blessed with Sneaky Pete ( big yes ), Goliath (big yes) and Red Oaks (pure genius with a Welsh boyo in the lead). Happy viewing troops!

Anyone else not impressed with the level of swearing in the episode aired on January 18? Specifically the use of the word "C*nt" by DI Deering 30 minutes into the programme.

Having contacted Channel 4 and received a standard reply that "adult content" is allowed by Ofcom guidelines after the watershed I have subsequently contacted Ofcom itself.

There is a level of "acceptable" swearing and I accept that this is a modern take on a police drama but this word crosses the line and I do not wish to hear it in an entertainment programme.
