It's not been that good has it? I mean come on, let's be honest here. ITV's gamble with late night entertainment hasn't really payed off has it? It can be said after five weeks, The Nightly Show has been about as warmly welcomed as a wet fart in a space suit.

It's not been that good has it? I mean come on, let's be honest here. ITV's gamble with late night entertainment hasn't really payed off has it? It can be said after five weeks, The Nightly Show has been about as warmly welcomed as a wet fart in a space suit.

So far we have had David Walliams, John Bishop, Davina McCall, Dermot O'Leary, Gordon Ramsay and next up, Bradley Walsh take their turn in hosting this cringe worthy nightly nightmare.

Having already watched quite a few of these nightly nightmares, and I stress, this is not something I'm overly happy to admit publicly, I have come to the conclusion that this experimental alternative to News At Ten has been a complete disaster.

I've was on occasion just being morbidly curious, so I deliberately stayed up to watch it. I thought, "Surely it can't get any worse"?

How wrong I was.

For example; Walliams was a waste of space, Bishop was boring, Davina was dull, O'leary was dreary and as for Gordon f***ing Ramsay, well put it this way. If they awarded Michelin Stars for swearing, Ramsay would be right up there in a league of his own.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm no prude but on his first night I think, Ramsay used the F word at least sixteen times? I mean seriously; was this really necessary? The only people who could perhaps beat Ramsay at his own swearing game would be a bunch of Dockyard workers coming back from a Friday night pub crawl.

Absolutely awful.

And over the last five weeks we have had a large assortment of guests and has-beens both old and even older to endure.

We've had Martin Clunes, Rob Brydon, Sir Tom Jones, Kim Cattrall, Roger Daltry, Martin Kemp, Pamela Anderson, Boy George, Ant and Dec, Melanie C and James Blunt to mention just a few.

And all of them I suspect looking rather uncomfortable being there as much as I was feeling just watching them. And where did they find Adam Ant?

Thankfully I missed that one.

And still the misery regarding The Nightly Shows less than favourable viewing statistics continues . . .

According to website Digital Spy, The Nightly Shows' viewing ratings haven't been all that much to write home about either, with believe it or not, Walliams doing better than expected compared to the other hosts with an average of 1.74 million viewers, and Dermot O'Dreary unsurprisingly bringing up the rear with a very unimpressive average of only 1.14 million.

The whole show has been doomed from the start.

So the question here is; what the heck's gone wrong? In principal; it wasn't a bad idea to begin with and theoretically, it should have worked better than it did, So where is the problem?

If you are a follower of the trending Twitter feeds you will find a variety of theories as to what is wrong with this show, and you are more than welcome to add your own views onto this ever growing Twitter feed.

Fortunately for us, we are approaching the end of this very disappointing series, so hopefully (and I use the term loosely) Bradley Walsh (TheChase) might just give the show the positive boost it so desperately needs.

Maybe Bradders can steer this out of control show from avoiding TV oblivion or perhaps on reflection, it wouldn't be a bad idea to let the good ship The Nightly Show sink all the way to the bottom of the viewing ratings.

And I reckon the one way of actually achieving it would be if Bradley ends each of his shows by singing a song from his debut album. Bradley, please! Don't sing.

The Nightly Show continues on ITV weeknights at 10pm.

Thanks for reading.

What the hell is Gordon Ramsey doing on this programme - awful as were the preceding programmes. Avoid it like the plague. I loathe Ramsay and his enormous foul mouth and massive head!
