Shopping channels entertain me. When I'm bored with the latest terrorist attack or political rumblings I like to watch deep fat fryers, paper shredders and other stuff I've never bought.

Ideal World

I work from home, if you call it work. During the day I only watch one of two things, The BBC News Channel or occasionally Ideal World. Don't ask me why but I do.

Shopping channels entertain me. When I'm bored with the latest terrorist attack or political rumblings I like to watch deep fat fryers, paper shredders and other stuff I've never bought.

"How exited are we", claims the presenter Hayley Green about the "incredible" Vibrapower Limited Edition. This is basically a 'thing' you stand on, preferably in tight coloured lycra.

"This isn't a machine that just wobbles flesh" claims the seller. Yes it is.

It's basically one of those robot hoovers, but you stand on it. For only £139.99 it wobbles your flesh. Unfortunately if you weigh over 13 stones you can't use it. So that's most obese men then. Hayley is enthusiastic though "I can really feel that working", "It's got a Union Jack on it", "wow, I can really feel that on my thighs". Can you Hayley?

After watching the Labour hustings on the news channel, it reminded me that I really needed a Telescopic Ladder, so it was back to Ideal World with presenter Peter Simon! Who remembers him? He's been through a lot has our Peter. He started his career as Ronald McDonald on a TV advert, before becoming a household name on kids TV Show 'Going Live'. He's now reached the pinnacle of his career flogging telescopic ladders on Ideal World. The guy's a genius. Seriously he is. He can talk about a Telescopic Ladder for a whole hour. "It's got a grip handle, so you can carry it under your arm". Genius. Whilst flogging carpet cleaner, he talks about failed marriages and bankruptcy. Where else do you hear that? Only Ideal World.

I've always held these presenters in high regard. If you can keep me watching a presentation about a Telescopic Ladder for an hour, then you are a TV God. Peter Simon is. He even sneaked in the word 'clematis' about a Telescopic Ladder. Genius.
